Backyard Wisdom: The Insanity Of Self-Reliance

Jesus often uses the things around us to teach us important truths about God, ourselves, and what it means to follow him.

This morning in my time with God, I was reading John 15:1-8, where Jesus says that he's the vine, and we're the branches.  Then it hit me... I've got two grapevines in my backyard.  (You know, because it's huge - 1/20th of an acre. 😂)

So I decided to shoot this quick (less than 2:00) YouTube video about what I (re-)learned.  I think it will be a good, quick challenge for you, too.

I know some of you would rather watch a video than read a post, so I may create more of these (and maybe some audio, too).  Let me know in the comments below if you'd like that.

  • Thank you Bryan for this so much needed reminder of whom we are in Christ.
May the Lord continue to fill you with his Spirit and blessed your family.

    • Hey Vivi, I’m so glad it encouraged you, and reminded you of our identity in the Lord. Many blessings to you and your family today!

  • Loved your 2-min video. What a great idea AND an excellent message that we need to be reminded of over and over. Please do more videos! Thanks, Bryan.

    • Hey Jorja, thanks so much for taking a moment to let me know you enjoyed it, and, that it was helpful. I do plan to do more!
