Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! I’m thankful you’re reading this post. 🙂
Today marks Day 4 of 5 in our Kickstarter For Your Soul series, and we continue with a look at the biblical principle of building more rest into our lives.
Scripture
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
— Jesus, Matthew 11:28
So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, for whoever has entered God’s rest has also rested from his works as God did from his.
— Hebrews 4:9-10
Tech-Free Sabbath Rest
I take a 24-hour Sabbath. It is during this time I shut off my phone and don’t check email. This is not usually Sunday since church is not always relaxing for me, is more social, or I am speaking.

Today’s Challenge
Christians take different views on the Sabbath, and it’s not my purpose to take sides here.
Someone once asked Tim Keller, ‘How much rest should I take?’
His answer? ‘More than you’re taking!’
So:
- Do you take significant regular rest, on a weekly basis?
- How would unplugging from your electronic devices during that time make it more restful?
